Who I Am

My name is Taylor Chambless. I am a personal trainer & online fitness coach based in Birmingham, Alabama as part of the Meta Fitness Studio team in Liberty Park, Vestavia Hills.

What I Do

I help everyday people, runners, and athletes build pain-resilient movement and bodies by building strength, improving mobility, and performing their best without feeling held back.

Why I Coach

Groovy Performance” was born of my last 10+ years on my mission to grow and become the best version of myself as a person and now as a leader.

‘Groovy’ represents the kind of coach I am and the community I want to build. One that is authentic, welcoming, and teaches to make health and fitness less confusing and intimidating and more confident in your decision to take more control of your life and health.

‘Performance’ to me means having the strength to tackle challenges and the mobility to move without limitations to build the resilience you need to keep continuing to do the things you love for a long time.

Whether you are just getting started on your fitness journey, wanting to lose fat, build muscle, having back pain, chasing a lifting PR, want to run a marathon, wanting to dunk a basketball, or simply want to keep healthy and mobile as you age my approaches and goals are the same:

To help you build the habits that build a body and mind that lasts and can endure hard times so you can say “yes” to more of life’s adventures.

What I’ve Learned From Coaching

After 10 years of being in the fitness industry I’ve found one thing to be true: very few people start a health journey because life is going perfectly.

Most of the people I coach aren’t coming for me to make them do sit ups and run. They’re trying to reclaim something. Something like:

  • Confidence after years of self doubt.

  • Purpose after feeling lost.

  • Energy from burnout.

  • Strength after an injury.

  • Identity after sports.

Some are navigating chronic pain. Others are preparing for their first race. Some are rebuilding after divorce, addiction, grief, financial hardship or years of putting everyone else before themselves.

Fitness is rarely the reason someone walks through the door but it’s often the vehicle that helps them become the person they’re fighting to be.

I know that because I’m not that different. Fitness gives me a “why”. A reason to believe in myself after dealing with my own pain, struggle, grievances, depression, self medicating, injuries, & setbacks and having the capabilities to handle life’s ups and downs. Now I help others rebuild that same belief.
